Sports Every NBA player has a hobby off the court. Like Steph Curry swings his golf clubs in his leisure, Giannis Antetokounmpo has an interesting hobby too. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is an ardent watch collector. For someone who repeatedly wore the same watch before the 2020-21 NBA season, Greek Freak has come a long way in the last few years. On top of it, he received a great boost for his passion, a collaboration with Breitling to create the rarest watches on earth. Giannis became the ambassador of this $4.6 billion company in 2022, months after he won his first Championship with the Bucks. Before he signed up with Breitling, he was already a watch enthusiast, thanks to his brother. One day after the workout, he gifted Giannis a watch with his name engraved on it and another one after a few months. And, it was enough to kindle a new hobby. Currently, the superstar has around 80 different watchpieces, out of which he received from Breitling. After roping in the right person to endorse the watch, the brand indeed has left the watch lovers surprised. Ever since Giannis signed up with the brand, he has been endorsing only two variants, Navitimer and Chronomat. Even though Chronomat suited his personality with a sporty look, Giannis always had his eyes on Navitimer for its sentimental. But now, the brand has gone out of its way to create a signature line with the superstar, starting with two models, the 40mm steel Chronomat GMT ‘Giannis Antetokounmpo’ and the 42mm red gold Chromomat B01 ‘Giannis Antetokounmpo’. A post shared by Boardroom (@boardroom) The dial shade of both pieces has a green tinge along with varying straps as well. Along with that, the watch holds ‘GA’ in the central hand, making it a Giannis Antetokounmpo special. According to A Blog to Watch, Giannis Antetokounmpo has changed the way how people perceive the brand. Earlier, Breitling held the image of the epitome of extravagant designs and it was nowhere closer to the word ‘casual’. The article playfully wrote a person will remain with an “underdressed” feeling because Breitling’s timepieces have been overtly formal. However, after the company brought Greek Freak into their business, the brand still has the same image but the superstar has added the ‘casual’ flavor to it as well. The superstar, who always preferred the Chronomat edition because of its sporty look, speaking of Navitimer, said, “I definitely switch between them, but to be honest with you, it’s the Navitimer; I love it a lot.” ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad Moreover, the signature edition was always on the cards, as he gave a slight hint of it in 2023. When he was asked about having a signature watch line with the brand, Giannis quickly responded, “Greek Freak”. He expected it to come out in light blue, representing his home country, but it came out in green shades. Maybe, there could be more coming out in the future. With this collaboration, Giannis joined quite an elite bracket of NBA stars like LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, and a few more who have elite partnerships with premium watch brands.
