This month our project welcomes post-doc Tom Morrison. Tom will be living in Serengeti and solving the mysteries of dynamic savannas and figuring out why there are so few trees in savannas. It is great to have him aboard!

Congrats to Dan on his Richter Scholarship!

On August 8th Michael will present in the NUTNET special symposium at the ESA meeting in Portland, OR: “Getting over the hump: multivariate control of the productivity-diversity relationship”

NSF has funded our proposal entitled: Mechanisms of tree recruitment limitation across a savanna soil moisture availability gradient!!  The 3-year project, based in Serengeti, begins 15 February 2012.

National Geographic has awarded our grant proposal entitled: “Foraging ecology and habitat selection of reintroduced black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis michaeli) in Serengeti National Park”!

Our paper “Ecology’s cruel dilemma, phylogenetic trait evolution and the assembly of Serengeti plant communities” has been selected as Editor’s Choice in the April edition of the Journal of Ecology… check it out from our LINKS page.
